Community ESG Programme

The year 2023 marked the 75th anniversary of the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS). To share the joy with its residents and other stakeholders, HKHS organised a series of activities under the theme of "Creating Homes for Sustainable Living" throughout the year.

This Community ESG Programme (referred to as the “Programme”) took place from 1 July to 31 December 2023. Through gamification on the mobile app Zero2, all residents of HKHS designated housing estates were encouraged to develop a healthy and sustainable lifestyle, as their green actions were digitised. Participants received “rewards” for completing "carbon reduction missions" in the areas of Clothing, Food, Living and Walking, which could be redeemed for various discounts on spending and fabulous prizes.

The programme concluded successfully on 31 December 2023. The programme had attracted participation from over 13,000 households in HKHS rental estates and successfully achieved the reduction of over 899,000 kilograms of carbon emissions, which is equivalent to the amount of CO2 absorbed by 37,000 trees (seven times of the trees in Victoria Park) in a year.

Registered users are still eligible to continue redeeming rewards and gifts through the Zero2 app and/or its partner merchants on or before the expiry date of their coins (i.e. on or before 30 June 2024).
