HKHS has actively put ESG into practice through a range of measures. These include the utilisation of innovative construction technologies, such as “Modular Integrated Construction” and “Building Information Modelling”, to shorten on-site construction time, minimise the environmental impact and enhance quality control; application of smart technologies in property management to save energy and reduce waste; adoption of green building and age-friendly unit designs; promotion of intergenerational solidarity and community harmony throughout project planning; and the nurture of new blood for the industry. As part of its 75th anniversary celebration, HKHS has also initiated a Community ESG Programme to encourage residents of its estates to adopt low-carbon lifestyles.
In addition, HKHS has set up a cross-divisional Sustainability Working Group and developed a sustainability blueprint. This year, a formal sustainability framework has been formulated encompassing the governance structure and strategy, which includes three pillars, namely “Sustainable Homes”, “Low-carbon Transformation” and “Future-fit Capabilities”, guiding all divisions to implement sustainability with a cohesive and coherent approach.
