HKHS’s First Dedicated Rehousing Estate Rental Project  “Eminence Tower I” Commences Intake
Marking Successful Completion of Casa Eminence Phase 1

The Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) achieves a new milestone in the development of Dedicated Rehousing Estates (DRE), with Phase 1A and Phase 1B of Casa Eminence, the first completed DRE located at Hung Shui Kiu / Ha Tsuen New Development Area, successfully completed.  Further to the flat handover of the Phase 1A Subsidised Sale Flats Project “Eminence Terrace I” at the end of last year, the first batch tenants of Phase 1B rental block “Eminence Tower I” just started to move in this month.

The Under Secretary for Development David Lam, HKHS Chief Executive Officer James Chan and Director (Property Management) Sanford Poon welcomed the first household of “Eminence Tower I”, congratulating them on moving into their new home.  They also visited the new unit together and had a tour of the estate’s recreational facilities, including the podium garden, children’s play areas and elderly fitness facilities.

David Lam said, “In 2018, the Government invited the HKHS to develop Dedicated Rehousing Estates with its own resources to offer non-means-tested rehousing arrangements, exemplifying the people-oriented approach in suitably addressing the housing needs of domestic occupants in the squatters of the area.  I am delighted to witness the flat handover of both projects of Phase I of the first DRE Casa Eminence, which help improve the living environment of the affected clearees and drive the development of the Northern Metropolis.”

“We are thrilled to witness the eligible families beginning a new chapter of life in their new homes, and that is a driving force for us to continue with our efforts to enhance the well-being of the residents.  DRE is one of the exemplars showcasing the Housing Society’s role as a housing laboratory.  The successive intake of residents of the Subsidised Sale Flats Project ‘Eminence Terrace I’ and the rental block ‘Eminence Tower I’ of Casa Eminence marks the first achievement of the Housing Society in DRE development.  In 2025, another DRE will be launched to provide rehousing options for eligible residents,” said James Chan.

“Eminence Tower I” being the Phase 1B of Casa Eminence is a rental block.  Located at 6 Hung Yuen Road, Hung Shui Kiu in the New Territories, the 31-storey building offers 375 rental units providing one- to three-bedroom units with basic internal fitting-out, and includes a podium garden, children’s play areas and elderly fitness facilities.  The rent of HKHS’s DRE rental units is set in accordance to the rental level of HKHS’s Group B rental estates.  Tenants who pass the means test may apply for “Concessionary Rent” when making their DRE applications to HKHS.  Including the Subsidised Sale Flats Project “Eminence Terrace I”, which completed flat handover at the end of last year, Phase 1 of Casa Eminence altogether provides a total of 675 units for sale and for rent.

DRE is one of the recent collaborations of HKHS and the Government, providing non-means-tested rehousing arrangements for households affected by the Government’s development clearance exercises or urban renewal programme.  HKHS is currently developing or planning a total of eight DRE projects, with approximately 8,000 rental and sale units scheduled for completion in the New Territories and urban areas over the next five years.
