Care for the Elderly

The most recent report of the Census and

Statistics Department indicated that people

over the age of 65 made up 17% of the total

population in 2016. In our rental estates, over

one third of the residents are 60 or above.

In response, we have introduced programmes

catering for the elderly in all sectors of society,

from the low-income elderly in our rental estates

to the middle-income and more affluent elderly.

Ageing-in-Place Scheme

We have taken a leading role in the promotion

of “ageing in place”, a concept that is

considered a high priority by the Hong Kong

Government for our elderly population.

Our commitment to “ageing in place” was

extended to our rental estates in 2012 through

the launch of the Age-in-Place (AIP) Scheme.

Based on the idea that elderly people who live

in a familiar environment can lead healthier and

happier lives, our AIP Scheme helps to forestall

the early and gradual decline in health of our

senior residents through rendering home

modifications, health and social care services

to support ageing in place.

Apart from protecting the environment, as a responsible corporate

citizen, we also strive to contribute to caring for the community,

promoting professional development, and enhancing occupational

health and safety throughout the years.
