As we seek to maintain excellence in our mission of serving the housing גٲࠋတԑ࠰ಥ̹͏И܊ცӋٙԴնd
needs of Hong Kong, the Housing Society must continually review the ҢࡁܵᚃᄲൖИ˒ʿٟਜʔᓙᔷᜊٙცࠅd
changing needs of its tenants and the community, such that we could Ъމሜุਕ೯࢝Ꮄϣҏٙਿᓾf
adapt our priorities accordingly to fulfill them.
The city’s elderly population is growing, and must be adequately cared ࠰ಥɛɹܵᚃϼʷdٟึ̀࿁ڗ٫Զ
for. According to Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department, more ԑٙᗫᚥf࣬ኽ࠰ಥִ݁୕ࠇஈd͉ಥ
than 1.2 million Hong Kong residents were aged 65 or older, ʬɤʞ๋א˸ɪɛɹ൴ཀɓϵɚɤຬdЦ
representing 16.4% of the total population. ɛɹˢԷϵʱʘɤʬᓃ̬f
Of these, a record 300,906 households were classified as elderly-only, ʕdዹ֢אၾৣਅΝИٙڗ٫˒һ

This represents a 67.4% increase compared with ten years ago and ϵʱʘʬɤɖᓃ̬dˀ݈͉ಥڗ٫ɛɹί
reflects a growing demographic trend in the lifestyles of Hong Kong’s И܊୦࿕ɪٙᄣڗᒈැf
older citizens.
To address this rapidly growing sector of the population, for over a މəᏐ࿁ڗ٫ɛɹܢᄣٙਪᕚdཀ̘ɤε
decade we have recognised the need to develop housing projects for ϋdҢࡁጐ͍ൖٟึʿචᄴdˈ
senior citizens in all socio-economic groups, but with a particular focus Չ݊ЭЇʕഃϗɝڗ٫ٙИ܊ცࠅd೯࢝
on low- and middle-income elderly citizens. ০࿁ٙג܊ධͦf
