Meeting the Needs of an Ageing Population 關顧樂齡人口所需
A wide range of facilities are provided at ERC for the public to
understand the concept of ageing in place.

Elderly Resources Centre 「長者安居資源中心」
Located in one of our estates Prosperous Garden in Yau Ma Tei, the Зذ௦ήᒺ೯ڀٙגڗ٫τ֢༟๕
Housing Society’s Elderly Resources Centre (ERC) was set up in 2005, ʕːɚཧཧʞϋணͭdீཀપᄿ֢
aiming to foster understanding and support for the elderly by τϼʿڗ٫ʾഛٙ฿ׂdಂૐᄣ̋ʮ
promoting the concepts of ageing in place and age-friendly homes. ࿁ڗ٫ცࠅٙə༆ʿԶ˕౪f
In face of the ageing population, the prevalence of dementia among ࠦ࿁ɛɹϼʷਪᕚdڗ٫ઃɪႩٝღᖟस
the elderly grows proportionately in the community. According to a ٙˢԷ˚ᄣf࣬ኽሊ͛ᑌΝ࠰ಥʕ˖ɽ
study conducted by the Department of Health in collaboration with the ኪᔼኪ৫ٙӺПၑd࠰ಥɞɤʞ๋א˸
School of Medicine of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, it was ɪٙڗ٫dӊɧࡈɛʕکϞɓɛઃϞʔ
estimated that one out of every three persons in Hong Kong aged 85 or ΝܓٙႩٝღᖟf
above suffered from various degrees of cognitive impairment.
In view of this, in November 2017 the ERC launched its new Mind- ϞԈʿϤdڗ٫τ֢༟๕ʕːɚཧ
Friendly Home Exploration Centre. The Centre is the first of its kind in ɓɖϋɤɓ˜කணΌอ౽ʾഛ֢ઞٝ
Hong Kong and allows guests to tour a model unit of dementia-friendly fΌಥ௴ٙ౽ʾഛ֢ઞٝᛇڎ
home design. Its aim is to demonstrate practical ideas both for housing ̹͏ਞᝈd˸ə༆ቇΥႩٝღᖟसઃ٫ٙ
providers and also for families seeking to introduce dementia-friendly ֢ணࠇdಂૐމג܊ԶᏐ٫ʿઃϞႩٝ
aspects into their homes. It further has a role in helping to raise general ღᖟसઃ٫ٙɛԶྼ͜ܔᙄdਗ਼Ⴉٝ
public awareness of dementia. ღᖟʾഛணࠇፄɝ֢dΝࣛп৷౷ᖯ
