In 2017/18 the Housing Society had 20 rental estates within its portfolio, ɚཧɓɖŊɓɞϋܓdגᒍɨɚɤࡈ
representing 32,632 units and housing approximately 85,000 residents. ̈ॡ܊㡼Ϟ32,632ࡈఊЗdИ˒ɛᅰߒ
We also managed 20,765 flats in 28 privately-owned properties, as well 85,000ɛfҢࡁ͵މՉ˼ 28ධӷɛيุ

As the second largest public housing provider in Hong Kong, we are ЪމΌಥୋɚɽʮᐄג܊ٙԶᏐ٫dג
committed to providing quality and safe living environments for all of ߧɢމהϞ֢͏ԶᎴሯτΌ֢ٙИᐑྤf
our tenants. As such, we place great importance on maintaining and Ңࡁڢ੬ࠠൖᒍɨɚɤࡈ̈ॡ܊㡼ٙၪࡌ
improving our rental estates. Half of our 20 current estates are more ҷഛʈЪdʕɓ̒܊㡼ᅽᙧʊ൴ཀ̬ɤ
than 40 years old, requiring careful maintenance and even ϋdΪϤѼഛٙၪࡌޟЇࠠܔʈЪ݊̀ც
redevelopment. We are sensitive to the need to find better and smarter ٙfҢࡁጐరӋһԳʿһҁഛٙ˙ࣩd
ways to address the ageing housing stock, while keeping costs ˸̙ࠋዄٙϓ͉ቇࣛ༆Ӕ܊㡼ϼᙧʷਪᕚf
affordable and providing them in as timely a manner as possible.
We must, over time, also meet the changing needs and expectations of Ңࡁ̀ၾࣛԨආdΫᏐɛɹϼʷʿ༨˾
an ageing population and cross-generational community. This means ٟਜʔᓙᜊʷٙცӋձಂૐfவจբഹৰ
that, in addition to our ongoing maintenance and community-building əܵᚃආБၪࡌʿٟਜܔணʈЪ̮dҢࡁ
work, we must focus particular effort on upgrades and services that will һࠅഹɢމڗ٫֢͏ʺண݄ʿਕd̍
benefit ageing residents, such as improving vertical access and ܼᄣணʺࠥዚʿપ࢝ᆀॾה֢τϼ
developing our Ageing-in-Place (AIP) Scheme. ࠇྌഃf
